Who’s behind Allenmoos?

Committed to Christian values – open to All

Allenmoos is promoted by the Cultural Society Arbor. Founded in 1961, this society aims to "promote the education, especially of youths, in Switzerland". The specific motivation of Allenmoos itself is based on Christian ideals, and more specifically on the spirit of Opus Dei, an international institution (more accurately, a personal prelature) of the Roman Catholic Church. The task of Opus Dei is to promote the Christian ideal of sanctity through the ordinary duties of each day. In Allenmoos, studies and work are considered as service to God and to our fellow men, and this includes the effort to work with professional quality.
The guidelines of Allenmoos are rooted in this spirit. Nonetheless, they can be shared regardless of one’s religious convictions. Indeed, Allenmoos has consistently attracted non-Catholic and non-Christian residents.
The responsibility for spiritual and doctrinal formation offered in Allenmoos is entrusted to the Prelature of Opus Dei. One of its priests is available for pastoral care.
